This is an extract from Arab Advisor’s latest report on Jordan’s cellular boom.
A full 71% of Jordanian households have a cellular line, only 5% short of the fixed line household penetration which stands at 76%.
This is what we Jordanians are best at: “tagg 7anak,” which roughly translates to: “indulging in useless conversations.”
Have you seen this before? It’s a number guessing game: http://www.amblesideprimary.com/ambleweb/mentalmaths/guessthenumber.html. I guessed 42122, and it got it right! Pretty neat.
Haha, I can read numbers now! We also call the exclamation mark “alaamat-e ta’ajob”.
Jareer, maybe you should explained that earlier. you never mentioned your teachers. by the way, my voice is really loud. I am a typical sultiya due to my dads side of the family. vibrant was a compliment although i dont knw why i said that because i never met you 🙂 hahahahah
Linda,
For the one millionth time, I tell you I am not yelling. Let me clarify it, once and for all. When our teachers taught us simple English, and Arabic as well, they told us to use exclamation mark ” ! ” whenever we want to end our sentence to explain a certain emotion called ” ta3ajjob”. Technology, and circumstances surrounding us make us always feel so. Unfortunately, I am not educated enough to follow the changes on the language use for the exclamation mark eversince. If those days the ” ! ” mark means something else, like yelling, I am so sorry, you have to live with it. I will stay loyal to my old teachers and stick to their version to what it means, or used to mean. As for the “vibrant” part of your comment, as long as it does not mean another form for “yelling”, I take it as a compliment. Thanks
Wow jareer you like yelling. you are a vibrant person and i like your story!
My neighbour is a 70 years old lady. She had a flat tire one day; she called a towing truck and he had her flat tire fixed. She showed me the map she used to visit her daughter 3000 miles away, from coast to coast (now you even use the navigation system- don’t need a map anymore). She orders her shopping list on line- and sometimes goes to store shopping. How sad that technology is making us not need each other anymore ! How good technology on the other hand, help us be independent ! Admin, if you tell me this story is irrelevant to the main topic, I will agree; but I wanna post it anyway !
