Today I received my first Christmas gift. It is a cartoon, a caricature really, of yours truly created by a very good friend of mine, the famous cartoonist Shujat. He not only worked to draw the cartoon but he also painted and framed it before giving it to me in a nice box with a ‘Merry Christmas’ message right here before I leave on vacation. That was so sweet of him. Thanks Shujat! |
Well, just for the record — and those of you who know her (Amal et al) know I’m not kidding — our blog host == my wife — is far more beautiful in person that shown in this cartoon. But I regard this as a bit of a caricature and not a “still life” so we remain happy to have it grace our home 🙂
Upon arrival in Jordan the wife has received confirmation that she’s not just my monkey (based upon an Arabic proverb) but that she is, in fact, a lovely young woman sporting a new haircut from Doha (at my urging and Amal’s direction) that looks fantastic. Watch this space for more 🙂
I didn’t get the comment on Santa and Muslim unity-did he do something about that? And I think the cartoon didn’t do Natasha justice.

Oh, that Shujaat? Well he certainly got a mouthful after his Persian Gulf animation. I’d say that infidel Santa doesn’t serve the ‘Muslim Unity’ well either! A little keen on the ‘western cultural hegemony’ are we?
