Probably one of the coolest things that we have done here so far was our trip last weekend back into the 1850’s, when the whole of downtown Harrisonburg, VA was made to look much as it did in the 19th century during the "Court Days Festival." The whole place went back in time, from the old costumes worn by locals that volunteered to become a character from the era, to the carriages and local crafts of that period. The event was one of a kind, to me at least. We also got to watch a play that took place in the city’s old courthouse. The play was based upon two real court cases that took place during the era. I enjoyed it tremendously. We wrapped up the evening by attending, as spectators, a period grand ball where men dressed in tuxedos and women in beautiful period gowns while they danced skillfully to music of the 19th century. I had a truly memorable time. The picture here speaks for itself. |
Thanks for the answer ,I got the drift of it .

Hareega,

Linda if someone in AZ hears “natives of the land” they’d think you are referring to Mexicans lol!
Anyway it’s so sad but true that the number of native americans has decreaed by more than 900% in the past 300 or 400 years!
I’m so glad we have some of them here , we need the casinoooooos
Hareega, you also mean way before that killing and murdering the natives of this land.
Well, I would really like to see one of these events one day. it would be really interesting to see if they really portray the social aspects of that time.
meen el shagfeh in the black shirt and sunglasses? 😀
ok i know it’s you,
It’s always nice to revive some old moments from history,
In 1850s ….Lawrence of Arabia and Abu Tayeh begazdero all around the country lol
Virignia is one of the oldest states in america
I live in Arizona which became an american state in 1912, before that it was a bunch of cowboys fighting and killing each other, i hope they’d never try to remember those moments from the 1850s
Oh yeah, the outfit is totally 1850s. I never realized Hard Rock Cafe was around in 1850.
Natasha, I love your outfit the best!
I guess there were no Jordanians in 1850. There was no Jordan either. Maybe Transjordan, or, River Jordan only.
