While in Jordan, we’ve noticed a new Jordanian invention popping up: “Police Huts,” as they are tagged. These blue, glass-enclosed little stations are positioned such that the police are right in the middle of busy districts making sure security is maintained. So far, I have seen huts in Rabieh, Sweifieh, the 7th Circle and on Gardens Street.
If anyone cares to hear my humble opinion, I say way to go. Jordan is growing and so is the amount of unpleasant occurrings here including theft and harassment. I salute those behind the initiative. It is much needed in this day and time. Here is a little snapshot of the hut in Rabieh on the side of the main neighborhood circle.
Yes Linda, “taga3 foss” means someone farted;-))) Iyas, what are you on;-) I can’t believe you still remember 3ilket SB;-)
Amal, I’m much better now. I got sick because of the change of weather. Amman is freezing compared to Doha;-) BTW, I finished the Sandpiper as well:)
Yeah very good idea, show up goverment power everywhere.
Natasha, I agree with you, it’s a good idea. How are you feeling? A couple of posts ago you said you weren’t feeling too well. Glad you enjoyed Travelling With Djinns 🙂
does that mean someone farted?
Linda, there are a few names of streets and areas in Amman. The only real thing you need to know is “taqa3 foss”, ask il baba what it means; you have to build your vocabulary before coming to Jordan this summer.
I like the kiosks also, and hope the police presence will deter round-about madness when we get inundated with “neighbors” this summer.
When the police park IN the duwwar they take up room and then even those with right of way slow to a snail’s pace.
I still say driving habits won’t change until people get enough costly tickets.
iyas i dont understand a word u are saying.
the huts can be used to sell jarayid and 3ilkeh SB and fawwar too…
but rabia is a good place to stop all those z3alatiyyeh around the dowwar as well as all the [deleted by user] that leaves al kalotti mosque near dowwar al ittisalat towards the israeli embassy whenever “foss daqa3” here or there.
Who wants police presence in this way ! But, I am not living there, and I don’t know what is going on these day. It just doesn’t look civilized this way !
why dont their police just drive around cars?
