This is an extract from Arab Advisor’s latest report on Jordan’s cellular boom.
A full 71% of Jordanian households have a cellular line, only 5% short of the fixed line household penetration which stands at 76%.
This is what we Jordanians are best at: “tagg 7anak,” which roughly translates to: “indulging in useless conversations.”
How about this;
” Fasaniss tanbakk takanif takamooha – Noss 3arabak maa fehmooha ”
Hakee fadee or “fantashli ; spelled :fan tash lee”. Have you heard of that ?
Jareer,…add iPods to your list billah 3aleik…
oh never mind. i know what it means. arent we supposed to “hakey el fadee”?
what does “tagg hanak” mean?
hmmm….
i love tagg el hanak….
I wish every one got a cellular phone. Not only that, but a car, a house, a digital camera, a cam corder, a bank account, a credit card.. you name it. Why not? Why should the people who have consider it a “classy” thing to have, or view those who do not as a “less fortunate” people. I think this is one of the obsessions about people in Jordan ! Am I generalizing here? Maybe-maybe not. Please , do not jump and tell me this is not what this article is about – I am used to that anyway ! Do you too categorize this site as “tagg 7anak” as well ( but in a written format)? Let this people vent, am I wrong ?
Whatever! I am yelling this time because I am frustrated with this whole cellphone thing. Everywhere you go, people are talking on them. I only use mine for family emergencies or work, and when Im with important people I care about, I do not bother to pick up the phone, because it is just common courtesy.
This is what I havenotcied from Arabs who i deal with who have recently immigrated here to L.A. Help me out on this one guys. Their cell phone is attached to them, they are always checking it to see if they got new messages or calls, and no one ever calls them, their phone book in the phone lists over 50 people, they pick up their phone at the worst times, etc.
What is this obsession? Here in L.A. it is just common courtesy to not pick up your phone when you are with loved ones or a friend.
Are there cell phone “rules” that people follow in the Arab countries?
If you are interested in my take on this, call me.
Cell phone number: 0-0-toz
Hehe, via msging 😛 everyone is too cheap to actually have conversations on their cellphones, including moi. Only special people get called 🙂
